Oh, how I’ve wanted a raised garden bed for oh, I don’t know, forever. Ok, so maybe as long as Pinterest has been in existence. I’ve seen several versions on Pinterest that are super cool and of course every blog makes it look effortless. Props to my husband again on this nifty DIY project. I showed him several pictures of the ones that I have seen and liked and he kind of just free handed this baby.
Below are some of the pictures of the set up. He used old deck boards that we retired last year and have been hanging around our house.
This was the finished process. It took a TON of soil. It probably could have used some more, but this will suffice for now..
Brae was so excited to help out in every stage of the process. Izzy on the other hand preferred to stay inside in the cool. That girl does not like to get dirty, much less sweat.
We let them help us pick out some of the plants. Brae picked out corn. I’ve never had successful corn plants, but there’s always this year, so I will keep you posted on how that turns out.
We also picked up lettuce (which Izzy was excited about – parenting win), cucumber, rosemary, strawberries, and tomatoes. Neither kiddo likes tomatoes, but I’m determined to change that. There’s nothing like a fresh garden tomato.
So proud of my boy. He loves dirt. 🙂
Hopefully everything is spaced correctly. I think there’s still a little room to plant a few flowers for picking later.
I will keep you all posted when it comes time for harvesting! We can’t wait!
