For my son’s 3rd Birthday, we held a Monster’s Inc. party. He was OBSESSED with Monster’s Inc. at that time. Who can resist Mike or Sully, really? One is short, cute and round and the other is huge, fluffy and irresistibly huggable. They were definitely two of my favorite characters at Disney World when we went last fall.
And Sully really is the most huggable Monster.
Everyone should go to Disney with their family at least once in their lives. But that’s another day and another blog! 😉
We had originally planned to have my son’s birthday at my Dad and Stepmom’s house, with a pool. His birthday falls in July, so he gets to have the very convenient: park, pool, outdoor parties. My daughter gets a little upset already (she’s 7), that she always has to have her party indoors. Her birthday happens to fall in January. But, we’ve been pretty creative with her party ideas, if I do say so myself.
Sadly, on his birthday it decided to rain. That’s the chance you take when plan an outdoor party. You either need a back up plan or you reschedule. We did neither. We called around to local restaurants trying to see if they had space OR availability to host a large group.
AMAZINGLY, by the grace of God, we called Krispy Kreme. AND, they hosted us! They helped us set up two large tables to set up all of the food.
We served grapes with vanilla yogurt and raisins to look like a BIG Mike Waszowski.
And Monster Toes were actually Captain Crunch Berries 🙂
My mom found CUTE little Jello Molds that were all the Monsters Inc. faces.
And I lucked up and found these Cheese Nips a day or two before the party day.
We had so much fun. The kids loved all of the little treats and snacks. To top it off, Krispy Kreme brought out donuts, icing and sprinkles for the kids to decorate their own donuts. Such a sweet surprise and redemption from what we thought was going to be a rained out canceled party.
My husband, being the creative genius that he is, decided to cut out monster faces and eyeballs for the kids to use in pictures.
My stepmom found another something for photo ops – this cute Monster “Party Animal” Cloth.
We had a great memorable day. And the Birthday boy did too!!
