This Valentines I was looking for something different to do with the kids to celebrate. It’s sometimes hard with kids to find something creative that’s indoors. We usually always end up doing some sort of craft. Thankfully, Izzy received a tea set from her Mimi for her birthday a month ago. It’s her first grown up tea set.
February 14th sounded like the perfect day to put the tea set to use and hold a Valentine’s tea time with me, Bre.
We had invited my mother, “Ging,” (as my kids call her – which is another story) to join us. However, she was unable to attend due to the weather.
This is a picture of our deck an hour or two into the winter storm.
It would’ve been ok if it were just snow, but there was ice in it as well, which is a no go. Even still it was a perfect day for tea, snow and TEA cupcakes.
These cute little cupcakes are just traditional box mix cupcakes, but baked in the sweetest tea cup molds. They are on Amazon for only $15 and they really jazz up the simplest tea party.
I filled them 3/4 of the way full, followed the directions on the cake mix box, and they turned out so much better than traditional cupcakes. Mmmmm. Now I’m wanting to bake some more. Too bad there’s only four!!
The kids have so much fun mixing their own tea. They take turns scooping sugar and dipping honey. The last time my mother in law was here, she left us with the best tea I’ve ever had.
Check out the Infusion Cafe on Facebook, here. I’ve only been there once or twice in person, because we live six hours away, but all you local people, it’s totally worth checking out.
We all had a lovely tea together. It’s so important to sit with each other, spend time together and cherish each moment. If you think you don’t have the time, make the time. It’s worth it. What a lovely day to remember, snow included!
